Dear Alli,
It seems I am finally to the last page of the first journal, so this will be my good-bye to Alli and a hello to the new journal, for which I have chosen to write to Bilbo. An interesting name it is, but all the more fun than writing to someone with a common name.
Let’s see….the past week or so, what has all happened? Well, for starters, I suppose I should hit on the point that I failed to discuss in my last entry. While I understand that Adra has minor failings in the whole social scheme of things and when he latches onto an idea, he really – REALLY – latches onto it, seemingly enough to fail to remember who he is speaking with.
I speak of a child that appeared one night at the recruit tavern. Now, I have nothing against children and I do make every effort to help those who are in need of aid or comfort. So I was speaking with the child and trying to comfort him when Adra also came into the tavern. He sat in his usual corner for a few moments, but when the child began to cry, he sort of swept him away into his own care, just leaving me to stand there blinking. That’s all fine and well, as he has children and knows more of caring for them than I. However, a few moments later he threw a few coins at me and ordered me to get whatever was in the kitchen for himself and the boy.
It was not a question or a request; it was a command that felt like it was coming from some cold-hearted stranger. It felt like I was nothing more to him than just a tavern wench he could pay to do whatever he wished. I felt so terrible that night and just didn’t even want to speak with him. He doesn’t even seem to ever realize when he does things like this either, like it doesn’t even matter.
In other happier news, we have a few new members within the ranks of EGoV. Lanara I met a few weeks back, but she was recently accepted, and following her in was her best friend Grace. Then there is Creed, who seems like a nice enough fellow and seems to have a strong interest in magic. I think he and I will get along just fine.
Running out of space a bit here as I close out this journal and begin on the next. Time to file it away for reading sometime in the future.
Good bye, Alli. The time together was well-spent. I’m sure we will meet again soon.
By My Hand,
Brianne A. Alcinoos
